@mz2 You've said that basically every release. It is still not usable, as the many comments in this forum attest. I paid for this software during the beta phase, believing naively that most of the major bugs would be ironed out by 1.0. You should not be charging money for this app.

Hi, I get an error every time I try to update from 1.1.5-49-G0C3208 to 1.1.6-beta. It tells me there is an error and asks if I would like to try downloading manually. When I click download manually, nothing happens. Also, the bugs I reported many months ago regarding inconsistent update checking have still not been fixed (and are not present in Findings or Papers, which I believe use the same update mechanism).

    Oliver.

Hi @mz2, that should not be the case, I only installed Manuscripts once (in /Applications) and then updated in-app. Thanks for taking a look.

Hi @mz2 - unfortunately, after entering this command and launching manuscripts, the behavior still persists.

@mz2 sorry, meant to say I don't get a dialog with "Delete" and "Save" - instead, it has "Save", "Cancel" and "Revert Changes"

@mz2 neither, to my knowledge. It happens every time. I don't get a dialog with "Save", "Cancel" and "Revert Changes". I am using a MBP 13" (early 2015), with OS X 10.11.5. What other details can I give you?

My experience has been very similar, sadly. It moved out of beta much too early, which I think is the source of much of the frustration - I am willing to forgive a lot more as a beta tester, even if it is a paid beta, than when I am paying for something that is allegedly at v1.1 but still has major issues with basic functions. I still have hope that Manuscripts will become a superb writing tool in the future, but it is a long way from that right now.

Trying out Scrivener now, and it looks very promising, no crashing/freezing/copy-paste issues so far, and has support for Magic Citations also, as well as easy to use customizable templates.

This is very disappointing. Having paid for the app to support development, on the promise that it would improve rapidly with free updates, it is still not in a usable state, and now it seems development has been abandoned?? This app should have never been sold while it was in this state.

Also, select all (Cmd+A) just randomly stopped working, both through the keyboard shortcut and the edit menu.

Templates still don't work properly. Started a new article with the current opinion in structural biology template, with the citation style set as current opinion in structural biology. When I open the document, the citation style listed in the formatting pane is Harvard. In addition, the section list in the resulting manuscript does not match the section list selected in the template creation dialog. Also, why are there are two boxes each for word count and figure count in the template creation dialog? I am assuming these are min and max, but they are not labeled. There are a lot of sloppy glitches like this in the UI (typos, missing labels, etc) which badly need some polish. Going back to Word for now.

Hi, suggestion - would be great if Manuscripts automatically changed the word/character count from manuscript or section to selected text upon the user making a text selection.

This would be useful when quickly checking, for example, how many characters are in a manuscript or section title.

    Cheers,
    Oliver.

@mz2 ok - also the previously reported UI glitches that occur when resizing the inspector pane seem to have gotten worse, try resizing the inspector when the section formatting tab is open.

@mz2 Ok, but why not just leave them in the position they are when the panels are shown? As is it just looks a bit messy - toggle buttons should not move, as a rule. Also, for both inspector and outline, the on/off switch seems to happen in a two-step manner - first it moves about two thirds of the way, and then the last third. Is this intended?

@mz2 this still happens in 1.1.4 - any progress on a fix?

@mz2 this is much better in 1.1.4 when the appropriate preference is unchecked!

One thing - the buttons to toggle display of the inspector and outline should not move - don't make your users hunt for buttons, these should remain fixed at all times regardless of what happens to the rest of the interface. I should be able to toggle on, check something, then toggle off, without moving the cursor.

Nevertheless this is a big improvement, nice work!
