@olibclarke the Sparkle update checking component we use sets a certain maximum frequency to update checking. We've somewhat worked around the effects of that in the 1.0.11 update, from which point the dialog should pop up in more cases where it previously would not.

I was using 1.0.13 and I hadn't checked for updates for at least a day so I don't think that's the issue. It correctly checked for updates (and found 1.0.14) on the fifth try.
Oliver.
Can confirm that bug. I use the update channel dropdown in the settings to recheck for updates since 1.0.
@Philipp-Rottner, @olibclarke: please let us know if it gets better for you updating from 1.0.14 updating to the upcoming 1.0.15 (goes out likely tonight, or tomorrow the latest).

Hi,
There are still issues with updating to new versions. I updated to 1.0.14 version yesterday and today when I tried opening the file, the manuscripttapp had got unistalled. I checked it in the application folder and the app was not there. Do I need to install again? If so how many license do I still have.
thanks
@kurthkoti we've seen some reports of the autoupdate mechanism having been interrupted causing this. We have a workaround in mind for this. For now, downloading the app from here and placing it where it was previously will work and your license will remain valid. Let us know via support@manuscriptsapp.com if there's any license activation issues induced by this.

@mz2 The bug I mentioned here is still current in 1.033 (usually takes 2-3 tries for manuscripts to check for updates).
@olibclarke our update analytics from 1.0.17 onwards pretty conclusively suggest we addressed the above mentioned wider issue which had to do with the automated update downloading which would add some confusing looking behaviour into updating the app (in part due to the big download size of the app). Now that the automate updating is disabled, there is nothing very exotic in Manuscripts regarding the Sparkle update checking we use (most Mac apps outside of the Mac App Store use it). The response is not always immediate and there is a maximum periodicity as noted earlier. For instance, if you check for updates multiple times in close succession, the very first check is actually the one that's still the one whose result you'll see.
Just in case, here's a direct download link to the most recent (currently 1.0.33) version: http://updates.manuscriptsapp.com/apps/manuscripts/production/download

@mz2 I don't think this is right - I just tested it. The first time I click 'Check for Updates', nothing happens. I can wait two, three, four minutes afterwards, still nothing happens. The second time I click check for updates, it does so immediately. This happens every time. That seems like a bug - not a big deal, but worth correcting.
Same here, I feel like it's not working properly yet...
@hubob, @olibclarke I should add, the app also automatically checks for updates on launch, so checking right around launch time will actually not do anything visible for that reason if there was no new update. There is minimum periodicity to it as well (15 mins at the time of writing) and we have adjusted it to be even lower than what the standard version of the Sparkle updating system does (i.e. the app will inform you of a new update within 15 mins of it being made available, automatically).
