Updating Figure Numbers

I added a Figure 1. Then cross referenced it in the text. That works great. Now I added a new figure above the old Figure 1. After adding the new figure it becomes the new "Figure 1" and the other figure is changed to "Figure 2". However, the existing cross references in the text do not update to "Figure 2". Any ideas on how to force the update?

@ksudheim there isn't a forced update mechanism to this (we indeed want to avoid adding one – instead resolving the core cause of why this refresh didn't happen in this case). We'll get this scenario fixed, but meanwhile there are a number of workarounds to this: the simplest is perhaps dragging the figure from the drag handle on the left of it for instance to a preceding paragraph, then back to where it is. The cross-reference numbering will update as a result.
