Problem rearranging sections

Hi,

Rearranging sections does not seem to work as expected in Manuscripts 1.0. When I drag a section and attempt to move it below another section (a blue separator line appears indicating that this is the expected outcome), the dragged section instead becomes a subsection of one of the other existing sections. And when I attempt to undo the rearrangement, it doesn't do anything - only closing Manuscripts and opting to revert changes restores the document to its original state. This is starting from a document originally created in MS Word. Any thoughts on this?

@olibclarke there are two positions where you can drag: either on the same level and underneath (which makes the section after the drag a sibling rather than a subsection)… or dragging with the mouse cursor positioned slightly more to the right, it will create a subsection.

It is quite possible that there is a document specific effect going on with the undo of section dragging not working correctly. If it's possible for you to create a quick screencast video and / or share the manuscript with us by sending to support@manuscriptsapp.com (this creates a conversation on our private support site, unlike this public forum), that can really help us figure this bug out.

Any update on this? Both of these bugs are still present in 1.02. Interestingly, when I rearrange sections, an entry for "Undo Rearrange sections" does appear in the Edit menu, but pressing it (or Cmd+Z) does not undo the rearrangement. And just to confirm, the strange rearrangement behaviour I observed still persists, and does not seem to be related to where I position the mouse - I believe I know how it ought to work, it just doesn't function as expected (the blue indicator suggests that the dragged section will be positioned on the same level as the others, but it always becomes a subsection no matter what I do).

@olibclarke we have not got to this yet, but the example doc + screencast will help us for sure.

@olibclarke the undoing of moving a section to become a subsection of another section has been fixed in the upcoming 1.0.10 update (will arrive in beta later tonight, we hope). Thanks for reporting this!

Separately, we intend to make moving between sections to be clearer with the addition of a context menu.

@mz2 this is still not fixed in 1.0.10 - I guess it didn't make it in and will be in 1.0.11?

@olibclarke the undoing of moving a section to become the subsection to another section has been indeed fixed in the 1.0.10 to the best of our knowledge (I have also just tested it again in various combinations of re-ordering moves just to be sure). The rearranging we will make more logical on the lines described elsewhere: context menu + improving still when and where the lollipop signs are shown.

@mz2 No, it hasn't. I am using 1.0.10 and it still does not undo rearrangement of sections. Here is a screencast:

@olibclarke your video is presenting the Edit menu of QuickTime Player where Undo is indeed not enabled. The undo function in Manuscripts should be working fine in the case that your video shows.

@mz2 not the case - I was pressing Cmd-Z, it was doing nothing. Here is another screencast demonstrating this more explicitly:

@olibclarke if you're sure this is with 1.0.10, could you send us the document in question, please? I can't reproduce that with any document available to me. Thanks!

@mz2 same thing is happening with the document I sent you previously. I am definitely using 1.0.10 as reported by 'About Manuscripts':

Can you please add the button add new section (alone) when you added a subsection because it's only displaying: add a new subsection and add a new subsubsection but not the section alone. In other words it is only incremental in one way

@phil54 it's contextual: if you are on a subsection level, the same level option is "New subsubsection". This may not be the most logical choice of words on our part. Did I understand your question correctly?
