@Joshua-Gans do you mean a MathType style editor as opposed to supporting LaTeX input of inline and paragraph level math that we presently have?

@cerkut, @Joshua-Gans, @Philipp-Rottner, @Sebastian the 1.0.30 update is now up and should fix the "Launch path not accessible" issue (as well as pasting to external apps which also was affected by the same underlying factor).
The good news is: the launch path thing indeed now works for me.
The bad news is: that puts me back to the export via LaTeX error which I had encountered before. I'll send an error log about it via e-mail...
@mz2 Yes. Basically, I have used Mathtype with Word for 20 years but it looks like the days of support by Microsoft are ending. While I can use Manuscripts with a separate program to convert Mathtype of latex (indeed, Mathtype can do it) it would be far more convenient if it were integrated.
The real barrier to teX getting more people is ease of use. I know that many have learned and become comfortable with coding their documents but I like to see what I am going to get. Indeed, I manipulate equations in Mathtype so it is more than just convenient formatting.
This is something I'd like to see. I am not sure how that would be to all your customers. Just figured I'd express my preference here.
@Joshua-Gans you'll be glad to know we have just added MathType support for the next 1.0.31 update I did this in part because it's come up as a request quite a few times and because it's basically one part of us supporting importing math from Word documents, which we'll add also in a further update.

Wow! That is just wonderful. I'm going to tell all my friends.
@Joshua-Gans it's out now – feedback very welcome We're adding also copying support to MathML (and TeX) from the Manuscripts side such that you can copy an equation to the clipboard (in order to work back and forth between MathType for instance).

OK so if I understand this correctly, I can copy and paste from Mathtype. It looks like I can't do that for inline equations though.
@Joshua-Gans you can copy into a paragraph. However, if you're at the end of a paragraph it's interpreted as a new paragraph level math element.
The version 1.0.32 also adds:
