1. Do I have to keep footer in my table? I want to remove whole footer row (want more customization)
2. Even though I let header or footer cell as blank (Manuscripts still has Header or Footer as grey font), pdf exported from manuscripts has "Header" or "Footer" at the cell.
3. I want to change grey cell background at Header

In summary, I want more customizable table!

@appleparan all of these customisation options are coming up. Ability to hide the header and footer the most critical and frequently requested.

I've seen that in the last update the ability to remove headers and footers within a table has been enabled.

However, removing the footer means that we lost the bottom border of the table and there is no mean to have one.

Another issue I have observed is that when we set a line for the body row separator, it one affects to the columns that are to the right of the first column.

Good point, it would make sense for us to add add a bottom line on the body side of the table (in addition to the footer optionally having a top line).

This is actually intentional (it's quite a common style requirement to have the extreme left and right ends of the table have a different line style). However, it appears those are not responding to click at the moment in the table style preview – we'll fix that up.

Only to be sure. The ability to create and customize a bottom border for a table when the footer is disabled is still pending, isn't it?

Furthermore, I am experiencing another bug with the customization of the tables. In the Inspector Panel (Style), when you select, within Table Styles, "Show caption above table", the sample figure above goes down to show the caption above the table, and the footer disappears almost entirely being difficult to try to select part of their elements for customization.

Indeed, I have observed that in the document "Getting Started" there is a screen capture that shows that, even when Table caption is placed below, the caption appear in the table above. In my case this caption doesn't appear.

@dcalarcon not there yet indeed, we have still some improvements to do to make it available as it affects also export formats.

Re: the caption, it's also possible to hide the caption altogether with an option in the gutter menu (the small blue 'o' symbol). Are you sure you have not selected that option for the table? The idea is that the caption can be selectively hidden outside of the caption styling given for tables. If the caption is indeed set to be shown, could you send us the example document via support@manuscriptsapp.com?

Very happy to see other users have similar requests. Still waiting for the line at the bottom of the table when deleting the footer. Keep up the good work!

I too would like the line at the bottom when you turn off the footer, in order to comply with APA Style.

@dcalarcon I'm sorry but can you let me know where that feature is? I would like to hide the footer but I can't find a way to do it at all.

The tables are fantastic and clean. I am too hoping to stick to APA and having a bottom boarder would be useful. The other features I would like to request is the ability to:
a ) have a table note option labeled "Note:" in non-bold italics at the bottom of the table. This means you can have the title at the top and then notes at the bottom which is a useful feature.
b ) To be able to have a second level of headers with a split in the table boarder below it. This will allow for groupings of columns/variables in the table. e.g., males (with mean and SD below) and then females (with mean as SD below). See example:

c) On a slightly different topic, would it be possible to be able to resize figures (for my project I have a larger figure I would like to give more manuscript space to, and to be able to stack three figures in a 1:2 (one on top row, two side by side below) or 2:1 (two on the top row side by side, and the last one below arrangement. That way we can have one wider figure either on top or below, and the two smaller ones side by side.

I'm using Manuscripts 1.0.54-7 which I believe is the newest version. Can't find the ability to remove the footer. How do I do that?

@andreashorn you can remove the footer from the context menu you get from the 'o' symbol, or from right-clicking the item in the outline.

I echo Conal, particularly on point b - this would be a useful development for the CUP journals partnering with Manuscripts.

I agree with @Conal-Monaghan. The option to construct more complex tables would be really useful. I would suggest being able to transform a row (which is data for example) as a header. In this case, a table can contain more than one headers. An example here: https://goo.gl/DO2VTx.

@djud maybe one alternative, while this feature of complex tables is not available, is to edit the table in excel and save it as an image, them place it in manuscripte as image.

@EdsonMichal this feature is now indeed included in the version 1.1.3 – you can import an image into a table, meaning you can create tables in other tools and use them inside Manuscripts. The table keyboard shortcuts are now also nicer (available in the main menu).

@mz2 Hiding the footer makes the bottom border of the table disappear. Would it be possible to tweak it so we can keep the table outline without the footer?

@Adam-Buckley good idea! I've logged this, hopefully for our next update but can't promise for sure.
