merge cells and two line headers

Is there a way to merge cells in table and to add more than one line in header ?
if not, it's a high needed feature.

@hm we'll do our best to add both. A few other table editor improvements are discussed elsewhere too.

I really hope you add the ability to merge cells in tables. This is a basic, essential function, without which I can't actually make a decent table.

@nomascus yep, coming up. We are also adding the ability to bring in tables from outside sources so you can treat for instance a PDF or an image as a table so it counts against the table cross-reference numbering instead of figures (in some situations the table layouts just get complex enough that a specialised spreadsheet tool is necessary in conjunction).
